GETTING TO OMCC USING AMTRAK
Amtrak is the main intercity train service from outside the Bay Area (e.g., Los Angeles, Sacramento, Reno and points East and South), and it can be a great way to get to the Bay Area and the WFC.
Gold Runner: San Joaquin Valley
Coast Starlight: Los Angeles to Seattle
Capital Corridor: Auburn to San Jose
California Zephyr: Chicago to Oakland

There are three main ways to get to the OMCC on Amtrak:
Direct to Jack London Square in Oakland:
- If you take Amtrak all the way to Oakland, the train will take you to the Jack London Square station at 245 2nd Street.
- From there, the OMCC is a very quick rideshare or cab ride.
- If you want to walk, it’s about a 20-minute walk, of .17 miles. Head toward Harrison Street, and turn right on Broadway, then turn left at 10th Street to the OMCC
- NOTE: We do not recommend walking from the train station at night; be safe and take a rideshare or cab
Connect to BART at the Richmond BART station:
- You can disembark Amtrak at the Richmond Amtrak Station, which is contiguous with the Richmond BART station.
- From there, take either the San Francisco/SFO/Daly City/Millbrae line or the Fremont/Milpitas/North San Jose line to the 12th Street/Oakland Civic Center Station and onward to the 12th Street Station in Oakland.
From San Francisco and the Peninsula:
- The story behind why Amtrak hasn’t crossed the Bay via the Bay Bridge since 1958!
- There is an Amtrak bus from the CalTrain Townsend Street station at 4th, which will take you across the Bay Bridge to the Emeryville Amtrak Station.
- From there, you can take a 10-minute AC Transit 27 bus ride to the Ashby BART station, and onward to the 12th Street Station in Oakland.
Tip: If you like trains — and who doesn’t? — you’ll want to build in a day trip to Sacramento via Amtrak from Jack London Square. The California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento is a short and easy walk from the train station. Use discount code V670 when booking your Gold Runner ticket to save 20% on train tickets.
